Well just to catch up on a couple things.... I had my mom over for Mother's Day! I ordered food from the place where Chad works and I'd worked for 5 or 6 weeks. It was delicious. She finally got to watch Superbad which she'd gotten me for Christmas. I was hoping that we'd get to watch Saw 4 which I bought from 7-11 since I hadn't been able to see it yet and we watched Saw 3 together when she was here last time. But we'll have plenty of time to watch it soon =0)
I technically have two apartments now. Depending on how vehicular things go (which will be discussed shortly) I should be able to move in there any time really. It will be expensive as hell. But: 1) It's a lot closer to where I work now (for however long I work there) 2) It's completely furnished so it's ready to go already 3) They offer storage a couple blocks away for only $20/month which is GREAT 4) There are two other apartments in the building and we share a game room complete with 2 pool tables and a huge widescreen tv 5) all utilities are included which helps avoided bouncing bills which are unpredictable or not running the A/C when I'd really need it just because I'm afraid I can't afford it 6) cable is included 7) free parking in an actual parking lot 8) my cable internet is also being offered for free 8) they have a cleaning crew come in once every two weeks to clean everything so we don't have to 9) they deliver dinners to us every night 10) two times per week they deliver gallon jugs of orange juice and milk 11) there's a shared washer and dryer which are FREE (this will help a ton!) and 12) it's monthly so we aren't locked into a longterm lease if I should start making more money elsewhere and find something else that we want.
I did a lot of packing/cleaning tonight. Granted, I can't do a majority of my packing until the last minute...hell...the day we move because a lot of my stuff will be needed constantly up until then. But I got a good deal packed that can be packed now. If my vehicle plans work out I will be able to bring home broken down boxes to pack my huge cd collection up. Most of my clothes will be sitting out until whenever I move but they can be packed into big trash bags in no-time-flat. And if I get a vehicle this weekend I may be moving in there before our lease is up here...by about a week or so.
Now the vehicle plans and moving plans:
I found an amazing automobile on craigslist that I wanted this morning. I saved the number to my cell phone since I had another person working with me from 5-10pm so i was able to step out and call. It's a red 1996 Chevy Blazer LS! For only $1500! Which is just a hair under $500 less than what I got back from my Neon from the other guy's insurance company. It has working A/C and brand new stereo system which work and doesn't overheat so there are three things that it already has over my previous vehicle. It will help me get all of our band equipment around without any additional thought and will help with moving (discussion forthcoming). It does need a water pump but I researched it this morning and should cost me no more than $200 parts and labor so it still falls under what I was looking to spend and it's exactly what I was hoping to get. Not only that but it's in Lansdale where I can get to it! Also, it is inspected until February 2009 which is also very helpful!
The plan for Saturday is to go to Center City to the bank to cash my paycheck and take out about $1800-1900 cash for the rest of my plans. Catch the train to Lansdale. Walk from the train station to the instant tags place. I paid off my speeding ticket and so I can get my driving privllages restored immediately. Then it's about a 6 block or so walk to where they Blazer is. I will hand them the $1500 cash and take it for a quick drive. I will have to remove the radiator cap to relieve pressure due to the water pump problem. If I agree to get it (which I am sure that i will) then he keeps the money and I take the title and the Blazer back to the instant tags place. Transfer the title. And register the car. Then I will call my insurance company to report the change of vehicle being covered and change my address in their records to my new address which will cut my car insurance in half from what it would be in this town. So I am completely covered and it's completely mine. I can drive the Blazer to the shop where I've always gotten auto work done to have them do the water pump. They should be able to do it pretty quickly even if I have to walk and get the part myself. It's not much of a walk to the auto parts store from the shop. If they can have it done that day Chad (if he does go with me) and I can stop at the pub for a drink or two to celebrate and then pick up the Blazer and drive down here (after more than enough time for the alcohol to run from my system of course). They are open on Sundays so if they can't finish it that day I can take the train back to here. I work Sunday buy my reliever said that he can most likely come in around 7pm so I can take two buses to Lansdale, pick it up and drive back down here. GOOD IT WILL FEEL GOOD.
Now I want this vehicle to help us move. I don't have anything in my room that won't fit into the Blazer. Granted it will take several trips but we won't have to pay for a UHAUL truck plus it saves on the three insurances I'd be paying on the rented truck because I am not driving in this town without full coverage on their truck. Most of my stuff would fit in one load aside from furniture items and those can be taken in several trips which would lead to a much nicer/comfortable/less stressful move which would be the first one in a LONG time really.
If I do buy the Blazer I will certainly post pictures of me with it. If for some reason I don't get that, hopefully I will get something else this weekend. But I am totally for the Blazer.
Well back off to some more packing, eating and then falling asleep so that I can hopefully wake up in time to do laundry before work.
Pray that the Blazer works out. I believe that I deserve something to work out, ya know? =0)
rock on.
hey hey let me know when moving day happens. i'll be happy to help out. i'm really doing my best to make sure things go smoothly, but forgive me if i make a few mistakes in the chaos. it'll smooth out...and i'll look for that can opener. ;)
