A Valentine's Day Ode To Oneself
Thursday. 2.14.08 1:08 am
So it's Valentine's Day. One of the first that I can recall off the top of my head without thinking back real hard that I was alone. It's all good though. God willing there will be plenty of others in my life and perhaps none of them shall be spent alone save for this one.

I am not one to hold a grudge against those that are 'oh so totally in love' and are all doing the "ideal" things that those that are truly in love do on this day. I know plenty like that. Those that hold love in contempt on any/every given day the idea of true love. Of having those feelings for anyone other than themselves. And that would take this specific days to hold personal rituals to spite the day itself.

I am truly very happy for them. And I hold out my hopes that the future versions of this day will find me sharing these very feelings with someone who truly shares them with me.

God bless all you lovers and dreamers.

Now...onto stuff that makes me happier currently.

Today they officially signed the bill for the US rebates. In order to stop a US economy recession from occuring (or getting out of it..depending upon who you ask) the US Government has decided to give out checks to most United States tax payers in hopes that they will spend the money which helps boost an economy.

In these uncertain times it is far too important to hold onto every penny to spend money willy-nilly on things that you would like to have. You never know when a bout of bad health will hit. When you'll miss out on time at work and therefore money. Saving money for 'a rainy day' has become having to save for 'a rainy month'. Perhaps 'a rainy year'. So this will help give people money that they feel that they can 'blow' on stuff that they want and help stimulate the stagnant economy.

There are many other purposes such as those for homeowners. Checks will range from $300 to $1,200. Most US tax payers can expect $600. Those taxpayers that earn more than, I believe it was, $78,000/year (single) to perhaps $125,000/year (a couple) will get a smaller rebate. Those that should be getting $600 also get another $300/child. Chad said that we should have had babies before this. I said he was retarded because a child will cost you more than $300 so having children solely for this purpose is an idea for which he should be shot. STUPID.

The only things required to get your refund check is to have a valid Social Security Number and to file your 2007 taxes! An extra incentive to get your damned taxes filed! The checks should be received some time in May.

According to recent polls which were conducted while the government was still unsure if this would happen had shown that a large percentage of people were going to use the money to pay off bills/debts and/or save it. Which would technically defeat its purpose. But they still hope that enough people will use if for its intended purpose (SPEND IT BITCHES!) to help kickstart the economy somewhat.

Personally I hope that between tax refund, car money and Chad paying me back what he owes me I will be secure enough to get another car about the time that I move and also have the money which I need to get another apartment. Then the $600 (assuming that's what I'm supposed to get) could be spent on things I need. Such as getting my repaired guitar amp head from the store that's holding it. Perhaps fix up the PA head once we get it back. And put a little more money into another car which will help with the intended purpose as I wouldn't be getting into a lease deal. Just paying on-the-spot.

Now..why would someone in my situation get rid of the money? Well...the musical equipment will get us ready to play shows again...and playing shows makes us more money. Plus makes me happy. And these are things that I wanted to get done with the money I'll have coming in once I have enough to secure another apartment and car. So this will allow this future-incoming money to go towards those things and no music equipment or whathaveyou.

This is truly exciting and although there seems to be no kind of an exemption list of any kind....I hope to not find myself on any such list. GIMME THE MONEY! I'LL SPEND IT AS YOU INTEND!

That's it for that.

And I've made another design..but I gotta find a place to host the image(s) for it for now. So the new layout/design will be forthcoming. Sit back. Hold on tight.

And have Saint Valentines to all of you..whether you currently feel that you have reason to celebrate it or not.

Goodnight, friends.

Happy Valentine's Chris! More money to spend is good news anytime.

Not to rain on your happy parade since I'm also very glad about the bill, but the checks will start being paid out in May, but most people will be getting them in June and July. I wouldn't count on May too much otherwise you might be very disappointed. :/ Considering how long it takes to get my the "refund" of my own money from them I'd be very surprised if they could do what they needed to do by May.

sweeet. extra money is definitely needed. and I will be putting it away for the move, but then it'll get spent, in probably no time, once I head out of Vegas. so I'm basically saving it for a few "rainy months" lol

Happy late V-day Chris! I too was alone on that day, but hey I had a ton of fun!

I am not planning on those government checks until I see mine. I filed my taxes early so I should get mine in late May...hopefully. I do believe that most people will pay bills, etc. with the money instead of going on a spending spree. I know that is what I will be doing...paying bills. Hopefully by then I have a job too.
