Plenty to do today.

I received a call from Chad at work and he told me that his boss said that I could start training tomorrow if I chose to. When he gets home I have to ask him if I was officially being offered the hours I was promised or if he just wanted me to train and get put back into the system and then go from there. Either way I'll go in but I am not going to discontinue my search for employment until I am guaranteed and scheduled for the amount of hours he'd promised me.

I had worked there before. It's a Hess gas station...which you may/may not know...but it's primarily on the east coast US. But then it was a tiny cube that no customers could enter. There was a slide out drawer for customers to put their money in and we could slide out cigarettes, bottles of soda, bags of chips and whatever else they wanted that we had inside. They plowed that down, put in twice as many pumps (they desperately needed new pumps anyway) and made a full size convenience store. There used to be only one person working at a time. Now it's two. Which I like. It was a pain before because you got no breaks. You ate between customers and you never knew when that would be. And worse..if you had to go to the bathroom...you also had to wait between customers. And that was a huge pain in the ass because even if they are using a credit card at the pump, you still have to hit a button to authorize it before they can pump so sometimes I had to go forever before I actually got to. These problems should be mostly rectified.

There are some downsides to this. You technically can't have any facial hair. Chad can get away with it because he works third shift. But I'd work second shift and whatever days the store manager's boss comes in..he comes in during that shift so there's no way to hide it. I'd have to go cleanshaven. Which isn't horrible but people were digging this look more apparently. But we desperately need money! And the other is that the schedule that he told me would have me working on Tuesday evenings which is the first day the band is supposed to practice of the week (Saturday is the other day) so we'll have to figure that one out. But I should be able to drink free coffee, cappuccino (i think that's true on both of those) and I know that you get to take home pizzas/wings/other assorted items after they've timed out (after whatever hour that they can't be sold to customers any longer) so that's all good stuff. And I should be a lot happier doing this than my previous job.

I'll be discussing this stuff with Chad but most likely call Paul (the store manager) and see what we could do to work something out. He knows how important the band is to Chad and myself as he came out to a couple of our shows so far. And I know atleast one of the other workers there really likes our music so I think that they'll be willing to do what they can to help out with shift trades or helping to cover some hours to be able to schedule shows or whatever. That'd be helpful.

Then I am calling my current/previous job to see if they tried to fire me. If not I will be quitting. I will try to set up a time for someone from the company to meet me at the store that I serviced so that I can hand in my PDA, it's charger cradle, my drill, the drill's charging cradle, whatever work books they want and my work shirts if they require them. Then I can get my last paycheck from them which I should get next Thursday night (friday morning I guess since it'd be midnight) which will help with next months rent and hopefully put a good chunk down of what my car will need for inspection/emissions and re-registration of the car (which we do yearly at about $35 a pop).

If I train tomorrow and Thursday I will get a check next Thursday for two days which would be two checks that day. And hopefully we'll be on the way to getting my car taken care of for another year. And hopefully it will be our last time getting this car inspected. And I'm praying that it lasts until we can get rid of it!

And then I have a bunch of things to take care of around here.

Plenty to do but I'll be around here throughout the day/evening. So feel free to hit me up and I'll hit ya right back!

I miss the Hess Station where I used to live in FL. They had good food and the fact that it was right next to walgreens was nice. :) They also had the cheapest gas around. Good luck with getting the hours you want.

MMmhhhmmm...
To be honest, I've always hated gourmet food. Too much money for food that, on a quantitative level, doesn't taste all that much better good ole' fast food. Diners and gas stations are like heaven to me. A variety of inexpensive food and junk, all without having to wait for some annoying waiter or cook to serve you. Just grab it and go, and keep the money you save for that sportscar you always wanted... Or maybe just to pay for your gas.

I guess what I should have done was tell people that it doesn't apply to them if they don't mind the revenue or what not. Because then it doesn't apply to you, my friend if u're a true blogger that just needs to get the gasoline outta your veins. I think Dave remembers me but not that much, but we dealt with this whole hacker situation back then and everything and back then Dave wasn't so busy so he was always on to help us with things.
